I'm Lori and I have been a professional calligrapher since 2001, working primarily on weddings and events. My family and I are recent transplants from Oregon to Indiana and loving being mid-westerners while still working with couples around the country and the world.
I am an ink and pen geek and am instantly drawn to fonts and beautiful paper stock, and I have WAY more pens and bottles of colored ink than I could use in three lifetimes. I am entirely self-taught and I love learning new lettering styles and techniques, as well as new art forms to incorporate into my pieces.
There is no substitution for beautiful hand calligraphy addressing or wedding calligraphy. It has been a privilege to be part of over 2,200 weddings and events all over the United States and internationally--including Michael Jordan's 50th birthday invitations (I have to admit, that was pretty cool). I would estimate I've addressed over 40,000 envelopes in those 20+ years and cannot even begin to number the escort and place cards I've done in that time. It has been a long and wonderful career and I have treasured meeting all my clients, whether in person or over the Internet, and the other wedding pros I have come to know. Whether envelopes, glass ornaments, wooden signs, or simply a beautiful piece of stock, I am happiest with a nib and bottle of ink in hand!
In 2014 I began creating Wedding Certificates after a couple contacted me about a Quaker Marriage Certificate. I learned all I could about the traditions and role of the Quaker Marriage Certificate and found an entirely new world opening up for me. I began creating traditional Quaker Certificates as well as ones for traditional Christian ceremonies and secular ceremonies. I've worked with couples all over the country and after a few of them asked for artwork to be included, I set out to learn more about pen and pencil artwork, watercolor painting, and other art styles to embellish the certificates.
The Quaker certificates have been so popular that the next step was to offer marriage certificates for Native American weddings, Country Western ceremonies, Celtic weddings, Jewish Ketubahs, as well as Quaker ceremonies, traditional Christian and secular ceremonies.
I absolutely love the idea that these certificates reflect the beliefs, ideals, and personalities of the bride and groom. Further, it gives everyone in attendance the opportunity to stand in support and solidarity with the couple by signing the certificate. After the ceremony the certificates are framed and hung in the home of the couple to serve as a reminder of the commitment made before family and friends. The signed certificates are a beautiful addition to the couple's home and a joy for me to be part of. Every day, as they walk through their home and see the certificate hanging on the wall they are reminded of the commitment to each other and their marriage.
I hope you enjoy touring the site and seeing the different styles and offerings. Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to contact me with questions!
